Plugin or plain MCP server: which should I install?

Install the plugin if you want the four prospecting skills (lead lists, email verification, shortlists, market scans) along with the tools. Add the MCP server on its own if you only want the tools, or if you manage MCP servers per project in .mcp.json.

Why does claude mcp list say “Needs authentication”?

That is expected until you sign in. Run /mcp inside Claude Code, select leadmind and finish the browser login, or run claude mcp login leadmind from your shell.

Can I use it in CI or on a server with no browser?

Yes. Add the server with an Authorization header carrying a live LeadMind API key (lp_live_…) instead of OAuth, and give that key a low daily cap in Settings. Sandbox lp_test_ keys work on the REST API only, not over MCP.

Can my team share the setup?

Add the server with --scope project. Claude Code writes it to .mcp.json in the repository, and each teammate signs in with their own LeadMind account the first time.

LeadMind in Claude Code

Run LeadMind from the terminal. Option 1: the LeadMind plugin (recommended)

The plugin bundles the MCP connection with four skills that teach Claude Code how to brief a job, verify a list and shortlist leads. Run these in your shell:

Then start Claude Code, run /mcp, pick leadmind and sign in. The skills it adds:

Lead list from an ICP brief (build-lead-list): Turns a brief into one precise LeadMind prompt, runs the job, answers its clarifying question, and returns a top-10 table with a CSV link.
Verify an email list (verify-email-list): Chooses a quick check (up to 25) or a bulk job (up to 5,000), checks your quota first, and explains risky and unknown results honestly.
Shortlist and first lines (shortlist-and-openers): Ranks delivered leads by score and reachable channel, then drafts one opener per lead grounded in what LeadMind found. Drafts only.
Local market scan (local-market-scan): Samples a category in an area and reports the share of businesses with WhatsApp, online booking, a given platform or an outdated site.

Option 2: add the MCP server only

Check it with claude mcp list. LeadMind shows as Needs authentication until you sign in.
Inside Claude Code run /mcp, select leadmind and complete the login in your browser. From the shell, claude mcp login leadmind does the same.
Ask for leads. Claude Code starts the job, polls it, and can write the CSV or the rows straight into your project.

Where the server is saved

Headless and CI

No browser for OAuth? Pass an API key from Settings as a header:

Use a live lp_live_ key with its own low daily cap. Sandbox lp_test_ keys are for the REST API and are refused over MCP.

Claude Code runs create_lead_job, waits on get_job_status, then fetches the rows with get_leads or the file link from export_leads_csv.

Troubleshooting

The server is missing in another project. The default scope is local to one project; re-add it with --scope user.
401 after adding a header. Check the header reads exactly Authorization: Bearer lp_live_… and the key has not been revoked.
SANDBOX_ONLY error. The header carries an lp_test_ key; MCP needs a live key.
Two LeadMind entries. The plugin and a manual claude mcp add both register a server; keep one and remove the other with claude mcp remove leadmind.
